Your listings live somewhere. Whose domain?
Free advice, complete: what native IDX is, why it quietly decides your search ranking, and how to check yours in ten seconds.
IDX is the feed that puts MLS listings on your website. Every vendor gives you one. The only question that matters is where those pages render — and it is the question nobody selling you a site brings up.
The common version bolts search on as an iframe or a subdomain: search.youragent.com, or a window into somebody else’s server framed inside your page. Every listing a visitor opens, every search they refine, is served from the vendor’s domain. Google watches thousands of those pageviews accrue, and credits them — to the vendor. You are running ads and open houses to build another company’s search authority.
Native IDX means every listing and every search result is a real page on your domain. The city guide links to live inventory two clicks deep and all of it compounds in one place: yours. This is a structural property of the platform — it cannot be bolted on afterward — and it is one of the reasons we build exclusively on Sierra Interactive, where the search layer is native and everything on top of it is ours to shape.
The ten-second check: open your site, click any listing, read the address bar. If the domain changes, or a subdomain you never chose appears, your inventory is building someone else’s asset.
The part that takes us: wiring that native search layer into a design that looks like your brand, not like the plate it shipped on. See it running on the latest build, or read the SEO playbook it feeds.
